Product features acacia wood

Acacia wood is hard and robust (even more resistant than oak), comparable only to tropical woods  such as teak. At the same time to the robustness acacia wood has a high elasticity. For this reason, the risk of cracking or warping of the wood is comparatively low. Acacia wood has a rather varied, irregular texture. Since wood is a natural product, there may be variations in the color, texture and grain of the wood. Wooden parts can be cleaned with a damp cloth. All wooden boards are treated with a food safe oil and can be re-oiled if necessary - most commonly used: Linseed oil.

Features walnut

Walnut wood is particularly high quality and therefore valuable and sought after in its use. It is a popular precious wood and has excellent properties, which makes it particularly popular for upscale interiors. Of course, since it is a natural product, there may be variations in its material. In addition, a few things should be considered when dealing with walnut wood.

As a deciduous tree, the walnut tree belongs to the walnut genus and reaches an age of about 150 years. With a height of up to 50 m, the walnut tree can reach a trunk diameter of 250 cm, depending on the species, and is grown preferably in warmer regions. It is found in Asia, America and North Africa, as well as in Central Europe, although it is rather rare in Germany and therefore all the more valuable. The walnut tree secretes growth-inhibiting substances to its environment and thus grows alone. Due to its high tannic acid content, walnut wood is naturally antibacterial.

Walnut wood has a brown-gray base color, which is often striped or grained, making it particularly suitable for decorative purposes. Depending on location and climate, the wood of the walnut can vary in color and structure. The grain of the walnut wood shows, for example, reddish or black variations in its coloration or a lively, partly cloudy grain. Furthermore, this type of wood is characterized by its high strength and yet it is easy to work with. Since walnut is not very resistant to insects, it should rather be used indoors.

Untreated walnut is commonly used and will darken when exposed to sunlight, causing the grain to fade into the background. Wooden items in untreated form should be kept away from water to avoid stains on the wood. Dust can be easily removed with a soft, dry cloth. To protect against stains on walnut wood, it can be treated with a food-grade oil and re-oiled as needed. Linseed oil and walnut oil are especially good for oiling walnut wood and are very deeply absorbed. They are natural oils and therefore particularly health-friendly.

The noble wood of the walnut is used more decoratively and less technically. In the interior it is used as veneer wood for high-quality furniture, because of its high price, it is rarely used as solid wood. Preference is thus given to bedroom and living room furniture made of walnut wood. Other uses of walnut include musical instruments, parquet flooring, chess pieces, and woodturning and carving.

The Playground assortment also includes articles such as rectangular presenters in various sizes, square cruets with a crumb tray or even teapots warmer made of walnut.

Properties oak

Visual characteristics and properties of oak

The wood of oak is characterized by distinctive textures in warm, yellow-brown tones. It belongs to the medium-weight woods, is very strong, hard and does not warp much. Oak wood is weather resistant, can be easily worked and is comparatively easy to maintain. Oak is naturally antibacterial, which is due to the high tannic acid content in the wood. Since it is a natural product, there may be variations in the color and texture of the wood.
