Weiden/Selb, November 18, 2025 – BHS tabletop AG is realigning its operations to secure its future. The goal is stronger operational performance, a solid financial foundation, and new growth impulses – with a clear commitment to Germany and the region. This realignment follows an honest analysis: massively rising site costs, complex processes, and stagnating markets. Without structural adjustments, the company’s ability to act would be at risk.
Gernot Mang, CEO of BHS tabletop AG, explains:
"If we take this path together, BHS tabletop has a future in Germany, in Bavaria, here in the region. In this sense, I see the realignment as a joint, responsible project that will bring difficult cuts in the short term but create stability and growth in the medium term."
The company plans to gradually discontinue production in Schönwald by the end of 2027 at the latest. At the same time, BHS tabletop intends to further develop the Weiden site into a central competence center for automated porcelain manufacturing, thereby investing in Germany as a location. Production will be concentrated on one of the most modern manufacturing lines in Europe. The highly automated logistics in Selb will remain in place, ensuring short transport routes to the Weiden production site. For part of the product range and decoration, BHS tabletop will rely on international partnerships – “Developed in Germany” will remain the benchmark in any case. This applies especially to premium ranges, which will continue to be produced entirely in Germany.
In parallel with production measures, BHS tabletop is aligning its strategy along two growth paths. First, the brand Heart & Soul, introduced in 2023, will be massively expanded in the casual segment. It serves price-sensitive customer groups with robust and trendy tableware. Second, BHS tabletop is launching a premium offensive: more international sales power in the field and more intensive market development across different target groups are expected to provide additional momentum. In addition, the company will invest more heavily in digital marketing.
Due mainly to the production shift, BHS tabletop plans a responsible adjustment of its workforce by the end of 2027 at the latest. This will be carried out in close coordination with the works council to enable employment prospects within the new structure. Above all, however, the realignment creates security for jobs at home, as BHS tabletop explicitly commits to Bavaria as an industrial location and to preserving its ceramic core competence in the region.
Financially, the realignment is solidly backed: shareholders and financiers are closely supporting the implementation. CEO Gernot Mang states:
"We are currently in a position to make ourselves sustainably future-proof under our own steam. Our strategy is drastic but carefully thought through. Those who accept the changes today do so for the tangible vision of a BHS tabletop AG that will remain an internationally leading specialist tomorrow and continue to write ‘Made in Germany’ on its products."
Customers will benefit from stable delivery times, reliable product availability, and a sharpened portfolio: top consulting expertise in the premium segment, high availability in the casual segment – all under strict quality standards.
